The Corporate Kill: US/NATO Phony Human Rights Libyan War (10-2-11)

So while Obama is celebrating his assassination of an American citizen without due process, his phony war on Libya promises massive profits for the international corporate elites.
Obama, as ever, pragmatically counting on a myopic low information and/or blood-lusting amoral and/or passively indifferent and/or distracted by personal economic crises citizenry to continue to stay enthralled and/or passive to a poser personality a/k/a international war criminal president uber a remotely moral leader.
Bill Van Auken writes:
"Now, with NATO warplanes and heavily armed “rebels” continuing a brutal siege of the coastal city of Sirte, where bombs, shells and lack of food and water has already killed hundreds if not thousands of civilians, capitalist interests from all the major powers are engaged in an unseemly stampede to exploit the wealth created by Libya’s oil reserves, the largest on the African continent."

"Similar meetings of hundreds of businessmen have been convened in London—addressed by the envoy of the Benghazi-based National Transitional Council on Tuesday—and in Paris, as the governments who sent warplanes and special forces operatives to wreck the country are now mobilizing a new invasion of capital to extract profits from it."

Also surfacing in the Libyan travesty a/k/a crawling out of from under their Republican rocks are political opportunists McCain and Graham, wanting to be as high profile and corporate-pimped-out useful as possible at the BLOODY “corporate kill.”
Van Auken:
"On Thursday, Senators John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and two other Republican members of the US Senate visited Libya, the highest level US delegation to arrive in the country since the beginning of the NATO war last March."
"The purpose of the visit was clear: profits. As the Associated Press reported, “The senators said American companies are hoping to tap into the wealth of oil and natural resources in Libya, which under Gaddafi long faced sanctions that prohibited much business.”
“There is a desire here by the Libyan people to make sure that those who helped get paid back,” Graham told reporters in Tripoli. McCain added, “I think American investors are more than eager to come invest here in Libya and we hope and believe that they will be given an opportunity to do so.”
believe that they will be given an opportunity to do so.”
Van Auken exposes the reality behind the above quoted McCain and Graham bullshit, given their recent history of trying to schmooze Gaddafi before crucifying him.
.
Van Auken:
McCain and Graham are no strangers to Tripoli. In August 2009 they were the guests of Col. Muammar Gaddafi and his son and national security adviser Muatassim. A US embassy cable released by WikiLeaks described the meeting as “positive, highlighting the progress that has been made in the bilateral relationship” and quoted McCain as assuring the Gaddafis that he would work in Congress to expedite US arms sales to the regime.
"These contemptible US politicians, who now bray about Gaddafi the “bloodthirsty dictator,” are no more concerned now than they were then about the lives of Libyan working people, thousands of whom have been killed in the war they promoted."
“.
We ordinary people -- globally, including our fellow human beings, the citizens of Libya -- are at the mercy of the coalition of the amoral pimped-out politicians with their massively destroying military and the monster-profits-over-people monster (repetition intentional) corporatists.
Yeah, Prez Obama has proven himself a real community organizer. The thing of it is, the lower 99% of humanity is not invited to his community table. But Mr. Obama does achieve Congressional bi-partisanship in war criminality. I suppose that will go on the Obama election faux-achievements' list. International gangsterism prevails, as the US does its massive enabling and participating part.
The levels of greed and mendacity are obscenely shameless.
Van Auken:
"Having previously curried favor with Gaddafi to promote the interests of Big Oil and Wall Street, Washington and its European allies saw the mass upheavals in Tunisia and Egypt together with the beginning of anti-Gaddafi protests in Libya as an opportunity to initiate a predatory war aimed at securing semi-colonial control over the oil-rich country."
"An indispensable role was played in preparing this criminal venture by a whole layer of middle class ex-lefts and liberal academics who provided a chorus that echoed and embellished upon the cynical claims of the US, French and British governments that their only interest in intervening in Libya was to halt a supposedly imminent massacre and to defend “human rights”."
defend “human rights”.
Human rights? That’s rich.

It has dawned on me that you are now so over the top, Libby, that folk like you may actually be helping get Obama re-elected. The American people can tell when detractors are going too far...and they tend to react in a way that counters the nonsense being spewed.

It happened in the case of Bill Clinton and George W. The opponents of both those guys went way too far in their criticism (I was one of them in the case of W)...and both got re-elected despite almost certainty that they could not win.

I still think Obama's chances are slim to none for re-election...and we will be stuck with much, much worse.

But I do have to thank you for your help, Libby...whether you are giving it intentionally or not.

So...THANKS!
When we made friends with a man who had a hand in taking down an airliner, for oil, and now run him out of his own country, for oil, what the hell does that make us. Bloodsuckers, with Senators McCain and Graham leading the sucking!
Frank, were you in advertising? Always looking for an angle. Well, your malice is duly noted. You are right, I think I am ramping up my anger because of you and people like you. I am not messaging only Obama, Frank, I am messaging you and so many people out there like you. And if you are willing to sell out America to fascism with your usual robust cronyistic denial and do what you can to peer pressure and lazy-group-think as much of the OS community as you can, so be it. You keep throwing rocks at the messengers, Frank, and enjoy the delusion for as long as you can. Hell, who cares about the next generation? You probably got enough in yours and the status quo is a comfort to you in imagination if not in reality where you are so not. libby
