Please Help Green Party’s Jill Stein Get Her First Ad On TV! (9-3-12)

[Ooops.  While attempting to embed a youtube I just accidentally hit "update" instead of "preview" and published this blog.  I had the youtube reference as a temporary link which is at the end of the blog. I will keep playing with it but for now there is, sigh, only the link below.  My problem may be trickier since I  often "cross post" blogs like this one already formatted from another website. Hmmmm.   God I am a serious luddite!]

There is a corporate media blackout on Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein.
Of course there is. Jill Stein is the true voice of us 99%ers!
Stein needs donations from the 99%ers to help run her first ad linked below. It's a good one!!!!
This would be chump change for the two legacy corporate-captured political parties but for the Green Party, that has made an oath not to sell out the needs and rights of American citizens to corporations, it is about collecting precious pennies from citizens of conscience. This is particularly challenging for all “concerned” in our economically strapped and terrorized nation.
Stein has until Thursday, September 6th, for the “matching funds” benefit. A citizen can donate $2500 to Stein’s campaign whenever, but up until this Thursday, $250 of each contribution will receive public matching funding. A precious boost to this third party candidate.
The Stein campaign wants to raise at least $80,000 to have their first ad run in “college town media markets”, $120,000 for it to have a viewership in medium-sized cities (population 1/2 to 2 million), $200,000, to buy media time in at least a couple of major metropolitan areas.
The theme of the ad is “Enough”. Anyone not feeling we are all drowning in a swamp of political corruption created by BOTH legacy corporate parties?
The ad, created and produced by North Woods Advertising, is the first of a series of ads that will appear the next week across the country in various media markets, including [hopefully] “heavy-up” buys in California, New York, Oregon, Colorado, Vermont, Texas, Minnesota, Maine and Rhode Island.  The mix of :60 and :30 ads will air on highly rated cable channels including MSNBC, Comedy Central, CNN, USA, MTV, Headline News, TBS, Bravo, TLC, HGTV, Lifetime, and TNT, as well as local news networks.
Ben Manski, Campaign Manager, says that with this coverage, the Stein/Honkala ticket will be the only presidential campaign truly conducting a national campaign. “After the primaries, the Democrats and Republicans tend to only focus their attention on swing states, leaving voters in other states feeling abandoned and unimportant,” said Manski. "Jill Stein and the Green Party are the only ones talking to ALL Americans by appearing on TV nationally.
"This marks the first significant media buy from the Green Party Presidential campaign, just days after the Federal Election Commission declared Jill Stein for President eligible to receive federal matching funds. The Jill Stein campaign expects to be on the ballot in at least 40 states and to spend at least $1 million. At the moment, it has secured ballot access in 33 states, including the battlegrounds of Colorado, Florida, Michigan and Ohio where Republicans and Democrats are in heated races.
Jill Stein is a medical doctor who ran against Romney in MA in 2002. Stein’s platform is labelled a "Green New Deal for America.” Stein's goals as listed from the the labor day message on her website:
  • employ the unemployed in public works projects and federally-supported community-controlled cooperatives and other enterprises; create 25 million green and public service jobs;
  • raise the federal minimum wage to a living wage;
  • repeal the anti-labor Taft-Hartley Act, outlaw permanent striker replacements, and authorize majority card check union recognition;
  • pass the Right To Vote Amendment to establish an affirmative constitutional right to vote and accurate vote counting;
  • pass a constitutional amendment to repeal the corrupting court-ordered doctrines that corporations are people and money is speech and establish that corporations and election campaign finance can be regulated;
  • enact single-payer Medicare for All;
  • forgive student debt and provide tuition-free public education from pre-school through graduate school;
  • eliminate the cap on Social Security taxes for high incomes in order to secure Social Security's indefinite fiscal sustainability;
Speaking of Labor Day, Stein knows all too well the realpolitik between the legacy corporate parties and the workers of America:
The AFL-CIO leadership are demanding that the two corporate-financed parties, the Democrats and Republicans, adopt the Economic Bill of Rights in their platforms at their conventions this year. They must know this is a lost cause with the openly anti-union Republicans. They should know that a real commitment to an Economic Bill of Rights is as much a lost cause with the Democrats, who have taken labor's political support for granted for many decades with no significant pro-labor reforms to show for it.
snip
Imagine if labor had spent the over $15 billion they spent on the Democrats over the last 40 years instead building an independent labor party and movement. Today we would have scores of labor party organizers in every state supporting a broadly based party of the working class majority. We would have blocks of independent labor representatives in municipal, county, state, and the national legislatures. We would have a national labor daily newspaper and labor networks on radio and cable. The two corporate financed parties would no longer monopolize U.S. politics. Democrats like Obama would not dare to force new free trade treaties upon workers. Badly needed labor reforms would be back on the table. And halting the decline of real wages and living standards would suddenly be more of a priority than protecting the big Wall Street banks.
Jill Stein asks that citizens engage with her in three ways and help with the work-arounds for her lack of a multi-million dollar budget:
1. Stay in touch on social media:
2. Help the Stein campaign get on three target media outlets for sympathetic voters:
The Colbert Report, The Daily Show, and The Rachel Maddow Show.
On Facebook - Leave a message on their walls, privately message them, comment on their posts - whatever it takes to get their attention:
On Twitter:
PLEASE @StephenAtHome - have #Green Party #POTUS candidate @jillstein2012 on the @Colbertreport!
Hey @TheDailyShow - how about having #Green Party #POTUS candidate @JillStein2012 on the show?
Hey @maddow - how about having #Green Party #POTUS candidate @JillStein2012 on the show?

3. DONATE:

Once again, the Green Party doesn't accept corporate donations. It makes these campaigns all the more challenging, but it also ensures the Green Party is only "beholden to" the PEOPLE. Not Wall Street. Not the 1%.
Let Jill Stein of the Green Party seriously introduce her voice -- and soon -- for peace, people and planet to the national political conversation!
Please see the advantage of encouraging a national discussion of Stein's pro-people policies as opposed to colluding with corporate strategists who want so-called progressive citizens to stay cynical and obstructionistic for the sake of “lesser evil” Democratic Party gamesmanship.

JILL STEIN'S "ENOUGH" COMMERCIAL:

I actually like her, but I wish she had pushed harder earlier. Anyway, I hope she has a good showing at the polls.
I'm still voting for President Obama, however. But I want Ms. Stein to keep on with it and go far. I'll consider her next round. I'm afraid I'll be throwing my vote away this round. I do like her, though.

Libby, when you get the time, go back, hit OS More, Manage Posts, edit and embed the video and Update your post. It's a bit complicated but you can do it!
Thanks for posting. It's a pity the ad couldn't have focused more on her platform.
Jill Stein is a medical doctor who ran against Romney in MA in 2002.

That says a lot, Libby. You and the others supporting her ought to think about the implications of that sentence you just wrote.

ROMNEY WON THAT ELECTION.

Jill Stein siphoned off over 76,000 votes…and definitely helped get Romney elected. Granted there were other factors and other fringe candidates involved…but the votes for Jill Stein HELPED GET ROMNEY ELECTED in Massachusetts.

Now you want to get as many votes for her as possible in the national election to help insure that Romney gets elected again.

For the record, I think Romney will win…and I congratulate you and the people thinking the way you are for helping put him into office. I am sure your efforts on his behalf will be greatly appreciated.

We deserve Romney and the Republicans, Libby. We deserve people like you and the others helping them gain more power.

I hope you enjoy your victory when it comes, although I understand Pyrrhus of Epirus did not enjoy his very much.
Lynette, thanks so much for your positive comments.

Jill Stein's been pushing hard as far as I can see traveling the country and trying to help the citizens of Wisconsin push back against Walker.

I wouldn't blame Jill herself. 80 million people voted and got betrayed royally by Obama. I don't know why so many still hang onto the hope he spewed, which turned out to have all the substance of cotton candy. Both he and Romney on front men for the oligarchs. Along with pretty much all of Congress and the SCOTUS.

Jill Stein. What a vibrant and serene and intelligent and articulate woman! The media is very threatened by her credibility and her appeal and her anti-corporate policies that are promoting social justice and empathy to the jobless and the homeless and the hungry! There is a code the Green Party honors, to promote people, peace and the planet. Where are those three priorities on the corporate agendas except as Stein says in the commerical, simply pandering bull sh*t.

We need Jill Stein to illuminate all that is missing in our present leadership! It sure is late in the game, but as Louise Hay used to preach "the point of power is always in the present moment!"

best, libby
jmac, thanks for coming by. yes, I think it is smart of Stein to try to appeal to the viewers of those three programs.

re the youtube embedding, i have played with that darn thing and can't afford more time. maybe something screwy with this particular youtube. I tried to follow the recipe! I will try to do another one soon.

I did the share then embed buttons. I undid the share selected videos. I couldn't find “use old embed code” box. The size did not match “480x360” format, but I got to choose so I plugged in 480 and got X270 that proportionally popped up. I figured that was okay. I copied the blue highlighted text (once with http and a second try with https -- neither worked). I pasted into the html page and updated and it gave me nothing! Agggghhhhh. I will try another one soon.

Thanks for all your time and effort. Whatever I missed out doing I know I will find! Until then the workaround works. :-)

best, libby
Stuart, thanks for commenting. Yeah, I wanted more policy myself in commercial, but I see where they were coming from and I love the guy in the undershirt and the guy on the bike! And when she talks about "pandering bullsh*t!" The commercial was enjoyable. Here is a really good video of Stein talking about the horrors of Obama's policies. This one is really serious and heavy. best, libby

Jill Stein did great debating Romney in the governor's race, considering she was fighting the legacy political party MACHINES and all their money and the cronyism. One newspaper declared her the only adult in the room.

What is your issue with Stein, Frank? That she has a plan to generate 25 million jobs with a WPA type of program like FDR used? That she wants to raise the minimum wage to a living one? That she thinks 1/3 of the country living in poverty needs to be pulled out of that condition. All those kids going to bed hungry? She cares! When has Obama even addressed that? That she doesn't want young people in debt the balance of their lives cuz they tried to get an education and they got gouged by ruthless banks? That she is against perpetual war? That she thinks destroying the planet and causing cancer epidemics among human populations is not worth it? That she believes in good and effective government. That she thinks that people who commit crimes like massive fraud and theft should go to jail no matter how rich they are or how many political friends they have? That she is against genocide and pirating imperialism?

Did you read my last blog where I quoted from Bruce Dixon of Black Agenda Report who talks about how basically Romney and Obama espouse the same horrifying status quo. Massive number of prisoners. Ruthless deportations. Ruthless wars. Health care sabotaged by greedy corporate vendors. Supporting the banks. The private sector only must create jobs or not, more accurately. 15 points Dixon hits on. It is depressing and sobering.

I listened to Judy Woodruff talk about how polarized the citizens are. Polarized from each other emotionally, maybe, but do they really think their respective candidates represent differences? Hah! The big irony is that the leaders of both parties are puppets of the 1%. And media is also a puppet organization for the 1%.

So, as Jill Stein has said, with either legacy political party the USS America is as good as the Titanic. Maybe it will sink a bit more slowly under Obama than Romney, but with either it continues to go down. Thanks to Clinton and his sell out to the corporatists, then Bush's, now Obama's. Assuredly Romney's.

But here you are going against Stein and me as messengers of the mess!!!! Where is your head and your heart?

I want change I can believe in and that is Jill Stein. NOT OBAMA!!!

Pyrrhic victory is having Obama win. What have we seriously won? 4 more years of betrayal, as he finishes off democracy and hardens the soft fascism that has already hardened up to a great degree during his first term. Hardened faster than it would have under a Republican, since so many are so blinded by the media bullshit and Dem Party hype that everything is the fault of the crazy Republicans. Yeah, they are crazy, but the Dem Party slipped the knife into our backs. Not recognizing that is pretty sad and dooming for this country.

They better pass out blinders for all attending or watching the Dem convention. There is so much evidence of betrayal, and the sirens of cognitive dissonance must be blaring loudly. It really sucks to have two lousy choices, clearly so lousy, and there is a third choice of integrity promising renewal and restoration and cynical and disillusioned Democrats won't even rally to choose a viable alternative because they are so led around by their noses by a seductive media presuming to decide the course of history for all of us. A lot of brave now dead Americans spinning in their graves over what this generation of Americans have done with their passivity and denial to all the sacrifices that were made to try to give us a decent and just government.

best, libby
Libby, first of all, Jill Stein is NOT going to get elected. Her campaign is a joke being played on people who do not want to deal with reality—or who do not know how to deal with reality.

And even if she were elected, which she will not be, what makes you think she will keep her promises any more than you thought Obama would keep his?

What makes you suppose the money would not flow to the Green Party if it achieved ascendancy…which it won’t…just like the money flows to the other parties?

I have nothing against Jill Stein or you, except for the fact that the Stein candidacy is a joke…and the fact that you are not getting it.

Jill Stein may very well siphon off votes from Barack Obama (and has no chance of siphoning any from Mitt Romney)…which could help elect Romney. That eventuality I consider to be a disaster for our country.

As for Stein’s “plans to cut unemployment and raise the minimum wage and reduce poverty”…that crap doesn’t even rise to the level of a joke. It is preposterous…and cannot be done. Anyone who thinks that it can be done but that the people currently in office do not want to do it because of shots from the grassy knoll or whatever…are in denial. Supposing that a star-gazer like Jill Stein CAN do all those things goes way beyond the kind of thinking that got you into the snit with Barack Obama, Libby.

As kindly as I can say this, Libby, you are in a dream world…you were in a dream world when you thought Obama could do it…and you are further into the dream stupor in thinking Jill Stein can do it.

But keep at it. Keep doing as much damage as you can to Obama. I am sure you and others who think like you will be delighted on Election Night when you hear that Mitt Romney will assume the presidency in January…and that the Republican Party and American conservatism have apparently become unstoppable.

Keep thinking that the Pyrrhic victory will be an Obama win rather than a Romney win.

We’ll see what you say three years into a Romney administration!
You are lost to the matrix, Frank. Doesn't matter that you got lots of company. It is a tragedy. I doubt you will ever grasp it no matter who wins in November. Unlike you, I think it will be Obama. Fascism should not be a pragmatic given. You can't begin to address Obama's anti-constitutional choices. You like Obama apologists shamelessly ignore the un-ignoreable, you have an extra level of denial it seems which pushes you to attack more often. That's okay, Frank. So does the tee-bee try to actively indoctrinate and manipulate. You are bubble safe in powerful company. You have enabled a nightmare transition for America with your denial. And you have used your energy to attack people who still manage to have awakened consciences!

libby
And you have used your energy to attack people who still manage to have awakened consciences!

Actually, Libby, I only “attack” people who have fallen off the edge. And I don’t really consider it an attack…but something more along the lines of a helping hand. I’m trying to help you folk get back to level ground.
