2 Links: Blackshire's '99 to 1' OWS Song & Obamabot Cartoon (1-5-12)

"99 to 1"
by Jonathan Blackshire

Verse 1:
We're gathered here together to take a stand,
And make our voices heard out across this great land.
We're tired of the smoke and mirrors, corruption, and greed,
And watchin' all these hypocrites trample on our liberty.

Chorus :
So we'll occupy our cities,
we take our country back,
And we won't be goin' home,
Until we get her back on track
When we get what we came for,
We'll have only just begun.
We want the whole world to realize,
We are 99 to 1.

Verse 2:
We want the corporate money out of our democracy,
Cause corporations ain't like any person that I've seen.
We want to cut out loopholes for the ultra wealthy,
While the rest of America lives in poverty.

Chorus

Verse 3:
We're not from the left or right.
We're from America.
Our issues are not black and white.
They are American.
We won't let them divide us anymore.
And if we stay united, we can be a nation once more.

Chorus

Bridge:
I can't tell you,
What to think.
You've got to decide,
On your own.

Verse 4:
Well I finally realized exactly what was wrong:
We the people, have stopped singing our own songs.
So it's time we remembered, exactly where we're from,
and start singin' This Land is Our Land and We Shall Overcome.

Chorus:
99 to 1 (x3)

Excellent exploration of what NDAA's inclusion of US Citizen Indefinite Detention means and the level of Obama's responsibility for it.  (h/t to DCBlogger @ correntewire)

The XtraNormal cartoon was great!
Any rational comment would now condemn me to death. One must be careful.
Harry, yes, it certainly does lay it out well and the critical thinker calmly and clearly makes his way through the offensive defensiveness broken record protesting I thought. It is cathartic to watch imho. libby

Jan, from your mouth (or computer) to surveillance's ears. Sigh. libby

FWIW, I am confused. If one gets more hits than a blog next to it, say, but they were published close to the same time, and that blog gets a high rating on the righthand list and one's own blog doesn't even make the list at all, what does that mean? Is it about number of comments and ratings which were also close but make a big diff for even one? I thought the cover was selected editorially but the rating list was based on number of hits? Or maybe the small window of minutes made a difference in said parameters. Not being petty as much as paranoid. Content? That doesn't seem to matter given some of the listed posts I have seen. I still don't get the system here but I don't get a lot of systems. :) libby
People will pay attention to a cartoon...It's how we're wired now. And the XtraNormal one is really informative.
Libby, this system is a Gordian knot of servers that lag behind one another. There's no telling how it works. But I think it's getting a little better.
Linnnn, thanks for commenting. I was hoping people would look at this cartoon in particular since it is so very well done and that is why I wanted this blog to make that rated list on the right so badly. I figured it would get more hits there immediately. But there was something jarring to me about the OS rating system that made me very uncomfortably suspicious during the course of late last night early this morning. I know I would be better off not feeling distrustful and letting it go. We live in paranoid times and I don't want to slide there, but as they say just because your paranoid, doesn't mean ... etc. Thanks for your take on my "reality" check exploration. libby
libby have you noticed the "green card" advert's lately, like the one above right now (probably 'cause I'm here in the enemy's house) hahaha? How overtly false flag has this little cyberburg become? Talk about cynics... O~ with this S~
II, am not sure what green card you are alluding to. Don't see it now. You mean promotion of the faux-progressive anti-progressive candidate? Can't remember the color of that advert but that burns me. Or am I in the wrong direction. Sorry. About to post about the Iran war-mongering. Aggggghhhhhhhhhhh. best, libby
oh libby... (ha) sorry for the cryptic comment! I guess the google adverts read my IP everytime I'm here (on OS) and offer me a chance to join the ranks of the priviledged (not!) slaving there in the land of the ___ and the home of the ___ .

Just too comical to me, along with what I already said and a few more adjectives.

Best to you, keep it going.
